THE MAIN DIRECTIONS OF SCIENCE AND ENLIGHTENMENT IN CENTRAL ASIA DURING THE PERIOD OF AMIR TIMUR

During the reign of Amir Timur (Tamerlane, 1370–1405), Central Asia witnessed significant advancements in science and education. Amir Timur, known for his military conquests, also actively fostered cultural and scientific development, laying the groundwork for a flourishing intellectual environment. Scholars and scientists from various regions were invited to Samarkand, his capital, transforming it into a hub for learning. Fields such as astronomy, mathematics, medicine, and architecture thrived during this period. The era saw contributions from prominent figures like mathematician and astronomer Jamshid al-Kashi and architect Qavam al-Din Shirazi. Educational institutions, libraries, and observatories were established, reinforcing a culture of scholarship that influenced the region's development for centuries. This period marked a bridge between medieval Islamic science and the Renaissance through the exchange of ideas and knowledge.
