Language interference, also referred to as linguistic interference or cross-linguistic influence, is a phenomenon in which elements of one language affect the acquisition, production, or comprehension of another. This study explores the mechanisms underlying language interference, its cognitive and social impacts, and strategies for mitigation in both natural and educational contexts. Drawing from psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, and language acquisition theories, the research identifies key factors such as structural differences between languages, proficiency levels, and the role of context in language use. The findings reveal that while interference can impede language learning and communication, it also provides insights into the interconnectedness of linguistic systems. The article concludes with practical recommendations for minimizing negative effects of interference, including targeted pedagogical techniques, adaptive language teaching methods, and fostering bilingual and multilingual competencies. These results contribute to a deeper understanding of language dynamics and hold implications for educators, linguists, and policymakers aiming to enhance language learning outcomes.
