International cooperation and carbon finance have become critical tools for addressing climate change and reducing CO2 emissions globally. For Uzbekistan, a country heavily reliant on fossil fuels, such mechanisms offer significant opportunities to accelerate its transition to a low-carbon economy. This paper explores the role of international cooperation and carbon finance in reducing Uzbekistan’s CO2 emissions, focusing on the potential of global climate agreements, carbon markets, and financial mechanisms such as the Green Climate Fund. It also assesses Uzbekistan’s participation in international climate initiatives and examines how partnerships with multilateral organizations can support the country’s emission reduction goals. The paper identifies challenges such as regulatory barriers, limited access to financing, and the need for stronger institutional capacity, while providing recommendations for enhancing Uzbekistan’s engagement in carbon finance and international climate efforts.
