Falsification of company books, or accounting fraud, is a pervasive challenge threatening financial transparency and investor confidence. This paper explores the common methods used to manipulate financial statements, the motivations behind such fraud, and its far-reaching consequences. Using the infamous Satyam case and other global examples, the study highlights the roles of auditors, law enforcement, and regulatory bodies. The paper concludes with suggestions for enhancing governance frameworks and using forensic tools to detect and deter fraudulent practices.
