Hydronephrosis, characterized by dilation of the renal pelvis and calyces, is one of the most common abnormalities detected during prenatal ultrasound. The progression and severity of hydronephrosis are often influenced by the underlying cause of urinary tract obstruction. This article examines the relationship between the rate of development of fetal hydronephrosis and the specific etiologies of obstruction, providing insights into diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic considerations.
